The site promotes positive guinea pig welfare, to help owners meet the emotional, behavioural and physical needs of their pet guinea pigs.  Kind to Cavies provides accessible, evidence-based information, empowering owners with knowledge, by bringing together findings from the scientific literature on guinea pigs, veterinary updates, as well as links to already existing sources of information. 

At Kind to Cavies our aim is to improve guinea pig ownership, and therefore the lives of pet guinea pigs. Kindness is key to the happiness we engender in our relationships with other animals, but being kind to other species requires understanding of them. The site introduces guinea pigs as a species, explains animal welfare, positive welfare concepts and enrichment strategies. Research has shown that better education on guinea pig care is needed to ensure that their emotional, behavioral, or physical needs are met; owners aren't always aware of the legal obligations they have to their pets.
